Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Bibliotheca Journals is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of integrity in its published content. Following the principles set forth by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Bibliotheca Journals is committed to addressing and investigating any allegations of misconduct to preserve the integrity of research.
Responsible Research Publication: Authors’ Responsibilities
- Authors must ensure that their research is conducted ethically and in compliance with all relevant legislation. Engaging in scientific misconduct is strictly prohibited.
- Research results should be presented honestly and transparently, without fabrication, falsification, or any form of inappropriate data manipulation. Methods must be clearly and unambiguously described to guarantee the originality of the material, allowing others to confirm the findings.
- Proper acknowledgment and authorship must be provided. All listed authors should have made significant contributions to the research. Misrepresentation of a scientist’s relationship with published work is unacceptable. Contributors with lesser involvement may be acknowledged but should not be listed as authors.
- Authors must disclose any direct or indirect conflicts of interest with editors, members of the editorial board, or the International Scientific Committee.
Publication Decision
- Bibliotheca journals employ a double-blind review process. Initial assessment is conducted by the editor, who is solely responsible for selecting, processing, and deciding which articles meet the journal’s editorial goals and should be published.
- Each selected paper is reviewed by two independent experts in the relevant field. The editor makes the final decision on whether the paper is accepted, requires revisions, or is rejected.
- Publication decisions are based on the paper’s importance to researchers, practitioners, and readers, with editors making unbiased and independent decisions, guided by ethical and legal considerations, including those related to copyright and plagiarism.
- Editors must recuse themselves from decisions if they have any conflicts of interest. The final decision regarding publication should be made by an editor without such conflicts.
Conflict of Interest
- Editorial board members, the Editor-in-Chief, the Scientific Committee, and reviewers must withdraw from the review process in cases of conflict of interest with an author or the content of a manuscript.
- The journal will strive to prevent any conflict of interest between authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial board and International Scientific Committee.
Peer Review
- Each submitted article is assigned to a member of the editorial board or International Scientific Committee, who ensures it is evaluated by two anonymous peer reviewers with relevant expertise.
- Reviewed articles are treated confidentially by editorial board members and reviewers.
Identifying and Preventing Misconduct
- Bibliotheca Journals and its editorial board members will not encourage or tolerate any form of misconduct.
- The editorial board will inform authors and reviewers about the ethical conduct expected of them and will be vigilant in identifying and addressing any instances of research misconduct.
Guidelines for Retraction or Corrections
- In cases of misconduct, the journal editor is responsible for resolving the issue, potentially in collaboration with co-editors, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and field experts.
Data Access and Retention
- Journal editors encourage authors to share the data supporting their research publications and to provide a data statement with the submitted article, promoting transparency regarding the data used.
Responsible Research Publication: Reviewers’ Responsibilities
- Reviewers must be familiar with and adhere to the journal’s editorial policy and publication ethics.
- Reviewers should possess scientific expertise or significant experience in a relevant field, with recognized expertise by their peers. They must provide accurate personal and professional information that fairly represents their qualifications.
- Reviewers should withdraw from the review process if they cannot objectively evaluate a manuscript or if they have a conflict of interest.
- Reviewers are expected to point out relevant published work not yet cited and to identify any potential research misconduct.
Copyright, Content Originality, Plagiarism, and Reproduction
- Copyright for original content remains with the authors, who grant Bibliotheca Journals exclusive licensing rights for first publication, including the right to disseminate contributions in all media and forms.
- Authors must guarantee the originality of their work and refrain from submitting previously published material or content under consideration elsewhere.
- Written authorization from the editorial board is required if authors wish to reproduce their article in other publications.
Access, Licensing, and Archiving
- Articles are published under open access with no associated subscription or pay-per-view fees and are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
- Journal content is archived in multiple copies by Open Edition, ensuring continued free access to all archives.
Confidentiality Policy
- The names and affiliations of authors, reviewers, and collaborators will remain confidential and will not be used for commercial purposes. This information may be required by government grant-giving bodies but will be transmitted while maintaining the secrecy of the peer review process.
- Bibliotheca Journals may use these lists for internal purposes, such as requesting articles, collaboration, or other contributions, through occasional emails.
